Because one month is brilliant and the next is quiet. And you're working just as hard in both. Sometimes harder in the quiet ones. And no matter what you do that peaks and troughs pattern just keeps repeating.
In this episode of Simple Business Dream Life I'm getting into why this keeps happening. And I promise you it's not what you think.
In this episode I cover:
- Why inconsistent income is rarely a marketing problem

- Why being this close to your business is actually working against you
- What it cost me to stay inside my own bottle for too long
- The questions that will show you exactly where your business is leaking
- What getting outside perspective actually looks like and why it changes everything
This episode is for you if you're doing all the things and the income still isn't reliable. If you're great at getting clients but can't seem to create anything consistent underneath. If you know something needs to change but you're too deep in the doing to see clearly what.
Key Takeaways
- Why consistent income requires the right things done consistently not just more things done more often
- How being too close to your business stops you seeing what's actually holding it back
- The hidden cost of staying in the peaks and troughs cycle longer than you need to

Hello and welcome to today’s episode of Simple Business, Dream Life with me Emma Hine.
Let me start by painting you a picture.
You're making money but it doesn't feel how you thought it would feel at this point.
Because one month is brilliant. Clients coming in, sales happening, momentum building, and you think yes. This is it. I've cracked it. And then the next month it goes quiet.
You’re back in hustle mode. Creating and pushing out more content. Doing more things in the hope that it brings the sales back in. You're working just as hard in the quiet month as you were in the good one. Sometimes harder even. And you cannot work out why the effort simply isn't translating into something more consistent….and by that I mean consistent revenue.
Does that sound familiar?
That feeling. That cycle. That exhausting peaks and troughs pattern that keeps repeating no matter what you do.
Well that's what we're talking about today. And we're going to explore exactly why it keeps happening and what to do about it.
So let's start with something that I think is going to reframe everything for you.
When income feels inconsistent the very natural response is to fix it with more. More content. More visibility. More offers. More launches. More activity. And it works. You have a push, things pick up, the month looks better. And then it drops off again because you cannot keep up that pace, especially as you take on more clients. And then you have another push. And it picks up again. And it goes on and on and on…the same pattern on repeat.
And the reason it keeps going is because you're treating the symptom. Not the problem.
Every pound you make requires you to actively go and get it. The moment you stop pushing the income stops flowing. There's nothing working in the background. No pathway that brings clients in without you having to manually drive it every single time.
You're essentially starting from scratch every month. And that is exhausting. And it's not sustainable. And deep down you already know that.
You have a brilliant month when you launch something or have a big push. And then it goes quiet because the launch energy drops and there's nothing underneath it to maintain the flow. You're great at getting clients but not at creating a consistent pathway that brings them in without a big effort spike every time. You've got offers but they're not connected in a way that creates a natural progression for your client and natural recurring revenue for your business. And if you're honest you're selling reactively. When it goes quiet you go into must get more clients mode. When it's busy you deliver. And the cycle just keeps repeating.
That's a structure problem and you can't see the structure clearly because you're too deep inside it.
And this is the part I really want you to hear.
You are smart. You are experienced. You are working incredibly hard. So why does this keep happening?
Because you're inside the bottle.
